The First Aid Kit Supplying Project

The First Aid Kit Supplying Project is a health project for seven and more community secondary schools in the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania. Many of these schools have no health facility of their own, so when a student is injured or falls ill, care can be slow to arrive or may not arrive at all. Minor problems that could be treated in minutes are often left to grow, and students lose valuable learning time. Because many of these young people come from low-income families, a lack of care at school affects them most, and the project exists to close that gap.

Why it matters

The project works to make sure that every participating secondary school has a small dispensary where students can receive basic treatment, with essential medicines kept within the school compound. By keeping supplies on site, minor health problems can be attended to on school premises, early and without delay, and every student can receive fast first aid care wherever they are on school grounds. Teachers and staff also benefit, because they no longer have to handle injuries and illness without any supplies or support.

What the project aims to do

When care is close at hand, students recover sooner, stay in class, and feel safer and more confident at school, which gives them a fairer chance to learn and succeed. This is a project that needs the support of the wider community. You can help by donating toward first aid kits, basic medicines and dispensary supplies, by partnering with us as a health organisation, pharmacy or company that can supply or sponsor medical items, or by volunteering your skills as a health worker to train staff and students in basic first aid. Every contribution brings a safer, healthier school day to the students of Kilimanjaro.

A child who is hurt at school should be cared for at school, right away.
