COSES

About Community Secondary Education Support

COSES is a Tanzanian non-governmental, non-profit organization founded by local secondary school educators to improve the quality of education in Tanzania’s newly built community secondary schools.

While thousands of young people now have access to secondary education, many classrooms remain critically ill-equipped, lacking basic textbooks, exercise books, science equipment, libraries, clean water, and sports facilities. COSES works alongside local teachers, parents, village elders, and global partners to equip these schools and foster long-term community self-reliance.

Why You Should Be a Supporter or Volunteer with COSES

Why We Need You

Direct, Classroom-Level Impact

We do not believe in bureaucratic overhead. When you support COSES, your contribution goes directly into the hands of students and teachers, whether it is a textbook on a desk, a football on a sports field, or a clean water tank installed at a village secondary school.

Founded & Led by Local Teachers

COSES was created by secondary school educators who walk into Tanzanian classrooms every single day. We understand the exact realities, challenges, and aspirations of our students because we live them. You are partnering with leaders who have firsthand experience on the ground.

100% Transparent & Assessment-Driven

We do not guess what a school needs. Every project is guided by detailed School Assessment Reports created alongside headmasters, teachers, and local elders. You can review these reports on our website and know exactly where your support is making a difference.

Fostering Self-Reliance, Not Dependency

The core philosophy of COSES is community self-reliance. We do not impose outside solutions; we work side-by-side with parents, local leaders, and school boards so they take active ownership of their school's long-term progress. Your support empowers local communities to help themselves.

Genuine Global Solidarity

Joining COSES connects you to a vibrant international movement of solidarity—stretching from local villages in Tanzania to supporters, schools, and media partners across Germany and beyond. You become part of a global family dedicated to educational equity.
